Move This World: Common Language Tools
Overview
Move This World uses a set of shared visual tools — Emotional Building Blocks, Emogers, and the Positive Pivot Scale — to help build a common emotional vocabulary across the classroom.
Emotional Building Blocks
A set of feeling words, one for each letter of the alphabet, paired with a visual reference. Practicing these with students helps build a shared vocabulary for identifying emotions in the moment.
Emogers
A set of strategies (10 for general use, 11 for an expanded set) designed to help PreK–8th grade students manage emotions, both personally and interpersonally.
Positive Pivot Scale
A scale used with high school students to examine different types of responses to conflict or challenging situations, ranging from –5 (destructive behavior) to +5 (transforming into a positive opportunity). It reinforces that students have a choice in how they respond to challenges.
