Uploading DESSA Data into Wayfinder
Overview
This article will help you upload your DESSA results into the Wayfinder platform so you can begin using Wayfinder’s tools to support your students' social-emotional growth.
If your school or district is already using both the DESSA System and Wayfinder, you can import and view DESSA results directly in the Wayfinder platform. Once uploaded, educators can access the results in the Waypoints tab and explore Wayfinder activities aligned to DESSA competencies.
Note: Currently, Wayfinder users can only import data from DESSA 2 and the DESSA Middle School Student Self-Report.
Exporting DESSA Data
To pull the rating export from the DESSA System, follow these steps:
- Login to the DESSA Portal as a Site Leader or Program Admin. Educators will not be able to pull this report from their account.
- Click "Data and Insights" In the top left navigation menu.
- Select "Rating Export" from the report navigation menu on the left side of the screen.
- Select the Rating Form you would like to pull and export by using the drop-down menu.
- Select the date range you would like the report to cover using the "Start Date" and "End Date" fields.
- Make sure each site you would like included in the Rating Export is selected using the checklist of site names.
- Once you have set your parameters, click "Export" in the lower right corner. This will download an Excel spreadsheet with any data meeting your parameters.
- Repeat steps 4-7 for each rating form, time period, or sites you would like to pull data for.

📌Notes
- Once uploaded, you can view DESSA results in the "Waypoints" tab within Wayfinder. From there, educators can easily explore and assign Wayfinder activities that align with each student's DESSA competency areas.
- Make sure your .CSV file follows the formatting guidance outlined in the Wayfinder help article.
- If you’re unable to upload your file, double-check that all required columns are included and formatted correctly.
- If you do not see the Waypoints tab or upload option, check with your district’s Wayfinder administrator to ensure you have the proper permissions.
