Resetting Staff and Student Passwords in the DESSA System
Overview:
This article provides the steps to reset staff passwords for the DESSA System and to reset student passwords for the DESSA Student Portal.
Staff Password Resets:
To reset your password as a staff member in the DESSA System, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to app.apertureed.com
2. On the login screen, click the “Forgot your password?” button (Image 1)

3. Enter your email in the box provided on the “Reset Password” page (Image 2)

4. Click the “Reset Password” button
5. This will email you a link to reset your password. Click the link in the email and enter your new password on the page that comes up.
6. Once your password has been reset, use your new password to log in at app.apertureed.com
7. Reset links expire 24 hours after being sent from our platform.
Student Password Resets:
Reset Student Passwords with Educator Support
For a student to reset their DESSA Student Portal password, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to student.apertureed.com
2. On the login screen, click the “Forgot Password?” button (Image 3)

3. Enter your username in the box provided on the “Reset Password?” screen, next enter the reset code from the DESSA teacher portal (educators, please see instructions below). Then, students should enter a new password and confirm (Image 4)

4. Click the “Submit” button
5. Once your password has been reset, use your new password to log in at student.apertureed.com
Accessing the Password Reset Code
A unique reset code is needed for students to reset their password. This reset code can be provided to registered students who are unable to login or have forgotten their passwords.
To Reset Student Passwords, educators should follow these instructions:
- From the DESSA Educator Portal dashboard, click Manage Students, or go to the gear icon >> Admin >> Student Self-Report. Note: If you do not have assigned students (example: Program Admin or Site Leader), you will see Reset Passwords in the upper right of your dashboard.
- Select Reset Passwords in the upper right-hand corner. A unique reset password code will appear along with a QR code.
- Students can scan the QR code or go to https://student.apertureed.com/reset-password and enter the reset code along with their Username to reset their password.
- Note: This reset code will expire within 30 minutes. If students are unable to reset their password within that time frame, a new reset code will need to be generated. Multiple students can use the same reset code at the same time. If the teacher clicks on 'Finished Resetting Passwords', the code will become invalid.
Change Current Passwords in Student Portal
To reset a known password as a student for the DESSA Student Portal, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to student.apertureed.com
2. Enter your username and password and hit the “Log In” button
3. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen
4. On your profile screen, click the “Change Password” button
5. Enter your current password and your desired new password in the box that appears
6. Click the “Submit” button
7. Proceed with the new password the next time you log in.
