Introducing Foundational Practices
Overview
The Aperture System includes social and emotional learning Foundational Practices designed to create a positive learning environment. This article details recommended guidance for using Foundational Practices in a classroom or with a small group.
When to Introduce Foundational Practices
Social and emotional learning Foundational Practices are designed to be introduced to the whole group or classroom as early as possible in the school year, and then practiced, sustained, integrated and reflected on as the year progresses.
Selecting Foundational Practices
We encourage you to read through each of the Foundational Practices and choose one that is new to you or that especially resonates with you to develop with your students. When it is well established, consider choosing another area to focus on, continually strengthening the ongoing SEL practices in your classroom or student group.
