DESSA SEIR Risk Report (6-12)

Overview

This article will help you understand and navigate the DESSA SEIR Risk Report, which provides insight into internalizing and externalizing concerns for students in grades 6–12. The SEIR Risk Report allows school-based staff to identify areas of concern and use that data to inform next steps and interventions.  

All user roles will have access to this report. 

To Access and Generate the Report 

  1. Log in to the DESSA System and select Data & Insights at the top of the screen.  
  2. Select the SEIR Risk Report on the left side of the screen.
  3. Select the rating window and desired filters (e.g., school, grade, etc.), then select Run Report.  

To Print the Report 

  1. Click the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner and select Print.

To Export the Data   

  1. Select Export CSV on the right of the Student Breakout section.

Viewing the Summary DESSA SEIR Results

View the summary of DESSA SEIR results in the bar chart. A breakdown of the risk scores will be shown on the graphs.   

  1. Click on “Externalizing Risks” or “Internalizing Risks” above the bar chart to switch between Risk score types.  

    Tip: Clicking on a specific bar within the chart will filter the student table below to show only students in the selected category. 

  2. Interpret scores using the three-level scale: No Concern, Possible Concern, or Concern. To learn more about these scales, review the DESSA SEIR Technical Manual. 
  3. Use these insights to prioritize student follow-up and guide discussions with designated school-based mental health professionals. The DESSA Student Self-Report and SEIR Implementation Guide provides helpful information about analyzing and using DESSA SEIR results.  

Viewing DESSA SEIR Results at the Individual Student Level 

  1. To view DESSA SEIR results for an individual student navigate to an Individual Student Profile by clicking on a Student Name from the SEIR Risk Report (see Image 1) or by using the Search function in the upper right-hand corner of the system (see Image 2).

    2.  On the Individual Student Profile, you’ll see score breakdowns for SEIR, SSR, and educator             ratings where available. To view the student’s DESSA SEIR results over time, toggle to the               SEIR tab in the banner above the graphs.
