Promoting Resilience in Middle School Students

Middle school can be a tumultuous time in students’ lives. They are faced with fluctuating and often confusing expectations where they must demonstrate increasing levels of maturity and social and emotional competence, yet they are still in the process of learning and developing these skills. Students are transitioning from elementary school ― an extremely hands-on and supportive environment ― to high school, where they will be required to be independent and achieve with much less support. Compounding these dynamics are the physical changes middle school students undergo during this time in their lives.
